Mom's Banana Bread Recipe

Whenever I have bananas that have seen better days, I usually use this banana bread recipe.  (Ok, half the time I put the bananas in the freezer and then forget about them.  Still, this is a good and easy recipe.)
You can jazz it up by adding nuts, cinnamon, or sprinkling brown sugar on the top as it bakes.

Mom's Easy Banana Bread

3 bananas
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt

Preheat the oven to 350.  Mash the bananas and beat with the butter and sugar.  Add the eggs and beat.  Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.  Pour into a greased loaf pan and bake for 55 to 60 minutes.  Spread with butter or jelly to serve.

I claim a piece of this counts as a serving of fruit for the day!

Starting out

So...after a few months of waffling on my part, and the insistance of my husband, I have finally decided to start this thing up.  I plan on posting about food, books, fashion and anything else I think is interesting.  Full disclosure: zombies may make a few appearances.  I will try not to post anything about zombies along with anything about food.
